Shwayze has recently shared how impressively fast Wiz Khalifa can deliver a guest verse. In their latest collaboration, Shwayze, the Malibu-based artist known for his unique blend of alternative rap and reggae, worked with Pittsburgh’s own Wiz Khalifa on a new single and music video titled “Smoke Too Soon.”
The track showcases Shwayze’s innovative approach to music, merging elements of Cali reggae with hip-hop. The accompanying music video, directed by Nicholas Jandora, captures a laid-back and fun atmosphere, set against the backdrop of KH Cinnamon Donuts in Los Angeles. The video also features appearances from GaTa, Bryce Vine, and, of course, Wiz Khalifa himself.
In discussing their collaboration, Shwayze highlighted Khalifa’s incredible efficiency. “Wiz and I have crossed paths for years,” Shwayze explained. “I sent him a few demos, and within a few hours, he sent me his vocals. It was amazing how quickly he turned it around, and I’m thrilled we finally made this collaboration happen.”
The single perfectly blends the laid-back vibes of California reggae with a smooth hip-hop rhythm, which Shwayze describes as effortlessly combining the best of both genres. The synergy between Shwayze and Wiz Khalifa is evident not only in the song but also in the video, which has a narrative style reminiscent of classic stoner comedies like Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre’s “The Wash” and Method Man and Redman’s “How High.”
Looking ahead, Shwayze is set to release his eighth studio album, *Shwaycation*, on September 13. He believes this new album represents his best work yet. The collaboration with Wiz Khalifa and GaTa has been a highlight, and Shwayze expresses his gratitude for the support that allows him to continue sharing his music. Additionally, Shwayze has ventured into acting, appearing in shows like *Abbott Elementary* and *Lincoln Lawyer*. With *Shwaycation* on the horizon and his upcoming Permanent Shwaycation Tour, Shwayze is ready to make a significant impact once more.
