According to Nick Montgomery, Hibs attacker Martin Boyle is stable in the hospital following a major head injury he sustained during tonight’s Scottish Cup match against Rangers. Additionally, the Hibees coach charged that Ibrox star John Lundstram was taking advantage of the incident that resulted in Nathan Moriah-Welsh being sent off in the second-ever home game at Easter Road during a heated quarterfinal match.
Speaking following a 2-0 loss in which Hibs overcame a goal deficit to lose Jordan Obita and Moriah-Welsh to red cards in three minutes, Montgomery said all of his thoughts were with Boyle, who was taken straight to the hospital following his stretcher off and immobilization on the field late in the first half.

“He landed on his head, so you have to worry about that. He probably has a slight concussion and a sore neck.” stated Monty. The most crucial thing, though, is that Martin is stable, according to a report I recently received.

Football is only a game, and even though Martin is a key member of our team, he is also a person. I believe it to be a mild concussion with some possible little neck ache. It’s our hope that he recovers quickly because he was experiencing some discomfort.
After a game in which there were multiple instances of escalation between players, Philippe Clement, the manager of Rangers, blasted Moriah-Welsh for his foul on Lundstram, saying that the type of tackle that should be banned from football. The Belgian player said, “It is a reckless tackle with the studs in front and it doesn’t matter if you break a leg or not.” It’s just careless.
“I believe it is critical to eliminate that type of tackle from the game since, in the past few weeks, there have been occasions where we have not received a red card. I was also not pleased about that at the time. In my opinion, tackles of that nature are bad for Scottish football, English football, Belgian football, and German football.

“Players should be aware that a reckless tackle will result in a red card. It is not beneficial to anyone because entering in that manner puts oneself in danger of hurting someone.
Montgomery criticized Lundstram’s response, saying that the Hibs midfielder had made ZERO contact. He also acknowledged that Moriah-Welsh shouldn’t have given the referee a choice by jumping in.
“Nathan is new to first team football; he’s only 21 years old,” Monty remarked. And to tell the truth, I was staring at it.
“I have great admiration for John Lundstram. What an elite player he is. However, it seemed to me that Nathan missed him due to the way he fell.

“I saw that one back try to keep him from playing a ball down the line, and he probably knocked it out for a throw-in. However, John has fallen.
And the referee issued the card with remarkable speed. To be honest, given that the VAR monitor was only three meters from the scene of the incident, I was astonished that he chose not to check it out. There is occasionally a small amount of inconsistency while examining decisions.
Montgomery said, “We can talk about whether it’s a penalty or whether it’s not a penalty,” in reference to the penalty that resulted in the Rangers’ opening goal. “You see things like that, and sometimes it just makes no sense at all. He’s obviously taken his time reaching out to Jordan. I’m not sure if it was a penalty or not, but for us, it was one tonight and it wasn’t a few weeks ago. That is disheartening.

Speaking with them is pointless. It’s not worth talking to them now, but I believe we’ve had a number of calls go against us in the last several weeks. We’ve also received one or two apologies. Nothing will change as a result of it.
