‘Believe so’: Journalist confirms Sheffield Wednesday’s interest in a £2.3m summer transfer target.

Sheffield Wednesday’s interest in the £2.3 million-rated striker has been confirmed by Alan Nixon. The Owls are preparing for a busy summer transfer window, with several targets already on their radar.

Head coach Danny Rohl is keen to retain January loan trio James Beadle, Ian Poveda, and Ike Ugbo, with hopes to sign the latter two permanently. Beadle is expected to leave Brighton on loan again, while Poveda is attracting interest from other Championship clubs, and Ugbo’s future depends on his parent club Troyes’ fate in Ligue 2.

Another target for Wednesday is Duncan McGuire. The club previously attempted to sign the Orlando City striker in January and have continued to monitor him. Blackburn Rovers are also interested in McGuire after a paperwork error thwarted his January move to Ewood Park. Despite McGuire expressing reservations about returning to Lancashire, he is open to discussions.

Journalist Alan Nixon confirmed Sheffield Wednesday’s ongoing interest in McGuire, who has scored five goals in 11 MLS games this season. Blackburn or any other club would need to purchase McGuire outright as he is out of contract at the end of the year, though Orlando is negotiating a new deal with him.

Sheffield Wednesday are also considering Ike Ugbo, making a decision between the two strikers potentially expensive. While waiting for clarity on Ugbo’s situation, the club risks missing out on McGuire if they delay action. The reported £2.3 million price tag from January might have increased, complicating the acquisition. Nonetheless, Nixon indicates the club’s strong interest, suggesting a potentially ambitious summer ahead for the Owls.
