Indiana Fever star Aliyah Boston capped off her third WNBA season with another incredible milestone, earning her first-ever selection to the All-Defensive Second Team. Despite Indiana’s playoff exit, the young center’s performance throughout the year solidified her reputation as one of the league’s most dominant two-way players.
Boston’s recognition comes after a standout season where she not only anchored the Fever’s defense but also took on a bigger offensive role. The three-time WNBA All-Star finished fourth in the league with 361 total rebounds, setting a new single-season franchise record — surpassing her own marks from both 2023 and 2024. With 17 double-doubles, Boston posted the third-highest total in the league this year and the most ever recorded in a single season by a Fever player. Remarkably, she has now broken Indiana’s rebounding record in each of her first three professional seasons, underscoring her consistency and growth as a cornerstone of the franchise.
Throughout the 2025 campaign, Boston averaged 15.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game, providing steady leadership for a Fever squad that endured significant injuries to key players, including Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham. Despite those setbacks, Boston helped fuel Indiana’s improbable playoff run — pushing past the Atlanta Dream in the first round and battling the defending champion Las Vegas Aces to a thrilling Game 5 overtime showdown in the semifinals. Her impact extended far beyond the stat sheet, as her presence in the paint was critical to the team’s success.
Defensively, Boston continued to shine as the Fever’s anchor in the post. She averaged 1.2 steals and a team-leading 0.9 blocks per game, regularly facing elite competition such as Co-Defensive Player of the Year A’ja Wilson. With 41 blocks this season, Boston moved to third all-time in franchise history with 140 career blocks and climbed into the Fever’s top five for both offensive and defensive rebounds. She also became the fastest player in team history to reach 1,000 career rebounds, finishing the year with 1,051 — just 64 shy of surpassing Ebony Hoffman for third place on the all-time list.
By earning her spot on the All-Defensive Team, Boston joins an exclusive group of Fever legends that includes Tamika Catchings, Briann January, Tully Bevilaqua, and Katie Douglas. Her selection marks the first time since 2017 that an Indiana player has received All-Defensive honors, further cementing her status as one of the WNBA’s rising defensive forces. Even as the Fever’s season ended earlier than hoped, Boston’s achievements stand as a testament to her hard work, leadership, and the bright future ahead for both her and the franchise.
