On Good Friday, Albion overcame a late deficit to secure a 1-1 draw at Millwall. Midway through the second half, a penalty kick by John Swift negated Duncan Watmore’s first-half goal, guaranteeing a share of the Sky Bet Championship points.
The team led by Carlos Corberán will play Watford on Monday when they return to action.
Erik Pieters and Tom Fellows were replaced in the starting lineup by Kyle Bartley and Andi Weimann, the manager’s two selections from the victory over Bristol City two weeks prior.
The first half was tough for the visitors, but Millwall had the better chances and took the lead when Watmore scored after a defensive blunder put him in on goal.
Before the half, Neil Harris’s team had two more opportunities, but George Honeyman side-footed wide and Michael Obafemi’s meek finish was saved.
Similar to what happened in Huddersfield, an entirely different Albion team appeared after the interval, and even though Watmore and Zian Flemming gave them a few scares, they were far better.
After that, on minute 67, Grady Diangana’s cunning earned him a spot-kick, which substitute Swift put into the bottom corner to equalise the score.
Alex Mowatt soon witnessed a curler saved, and the Baggies appeared to be on the verge of finding a winner.
In a last-ditch effort to take three points, Corberán introduced Matt Phillips, making his first appearance since December. Nevertheless, neither team was able to generate any more opportunities, and the game finished in a draw.
West Brom: Furlong, Kipre, Bartley, Townsend; Yokuslu, Mowatt; Wallace (Thomas-Asante 63), Johnston (Swift 63), Diangana (Phillips 81); Weimann (Fellows 46).
Substitutes:
