Alan Shearer responds to Jeff Stelling remarks about Newcastle v West Ham United

In response to Jeff Stelling calling it a “terrible” choice for Match of the Day to skip over the second penalty incident in West Ham’s match against Newcastle United, Alan Shearer has responded.

On Sunday, March 31, the pundit retweeted the talkSPORT host on Twitter, stating that it was likely omitted by the producers because it involved a “certain penalty” for a foul committed by Kalvin Phillips against Anthony Gordon on Saturday (30 March).

Time was also limited, he said, because there was a lot of action in the game, which saw the Magpies come back from behind to win 4-3.

Stelling said, “It’s interesting that MOTD decided the second Newcastle penalty wasn’t worth discussing, even though it was probably the most contentious call of the weekend.” “It was a horrible production choice, not Alex Scott’s fault.”

“Good morning, Jeff,” Shearer answered. “I assume they decided not to air it since there was a specific punishment and, as you are aware, the show has a limited amount of time.”

Amid the West Ham controversy, Alan Shearer displays bias towards Newcastle.

Had it been Shearer’s turn to lead the mob against the officials, as he usually does when it comes to Newcastle, the decision would have likely gone the other way.

Stelling, on the other hand, is far more unbiased about the choice and, like the majority of people, he could see that a penalty wasn’t the best course of action.

Given that the incident has dominated headlines for the past 24 hours, it’s odd that they chose not to discuss the decision on Match of the Day.

They would have been debating it for a good few minutes if it had been a decision involving one of the so-called big clubs.

However, the Hammers have every right to be upset that the Magpies were awarded a penalty, but our response was insufficient, and we collapsed in the last moments of the match.

In other West Ham news, David Sullivan has come under fire for his “ridiculous” remarks regarding a controversy involving the Hammers.
