Richard Kennar, the South Sydney Rabbitohs’ versatile outside back, has emerged as the latest NRL player to be offered to Super League clubs; Rugby League Live has disclosed that the 29-year-old’s name is being circulated among clubs within the competition, with the intent of securing a contract for the next season.
Kennar, who is currently off-contract with the Rabbitohs at the end of this season, has spent the last three years with the club; known for his powerful playstyle, he primarily plays on the wing but is also capable of playing at centre, adding to his versatility. Throughout his NRL career, Kennar has played 40 games and scored 20 tries, demonstrating his scoring ability; this season alone, he has managed to score twice in as many games, including a notable try for the Rabbitohs during their Las Vegas defeat to the Manly Sea Eagles earlier this year.
Nevertheless, a significant hurdle for any Super League club interested in signing Kennar will be the necessity of securing him a Governing Body Endorsement; this requirement might prove challenging due to his limited appearances, as he has made only seven appearances in the last two seasons, which could potentially impact his eligibility.
