Max Verstappen secured the pole position for the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka, defeating Sergio Perez, his Red Bull teammate.
Verstappen was the clear favourite for pole after dominating practice. This led to his fifth consecutive P1 start, and Perez in the sister Red Bull joins him on the front row.
Lando Norris rounded out the top three, followed by Fernando Alonso in fifth and Lewis Hamilton in seventh. The Mexican was less than tenth of a second behind the Dutchman.
