Julen Lopetegui wants three players to join West Ham.

According to reports, Julen Lopetegui will begin his reign as West Ham United manager with an ambitious approach, targeting players from former clubs Real Madrid and Sevilla.

West Ham confirmed on Monday that David Moyes will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season. The 61-year-old has performed admirably during his second spell as West Ham manager, guiding the club to the Europa Conference League title last year, but London Stadium officials believe they need to take a different approach.

The Irons have signed Lopetegui, a free agent who left Wolverhampton Wanderers before the season began, to replace Moyes.

Lopetegui was also approached by Bayern Munich, but he unexpectedly declined because he preferred to manage in the Premier League again.

West Ham may sell top players like Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta to create a ‘war chest’ for the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to reports, Lopetegui will target three players as a priority. The Spaniard admires Youssef En-Nesyri and Marcos Acuna, whom he previously worked with at Sevilla, as reported by The Sun.

En-Nesyri is a Moroccan centre-forward who has scored 70 goals in 192 appearances for Sevilla since joining in January 2020. This includes an impressive 17 strikes from 37 appearances this season.

West Ham were heavily linked with En-Nesyri in the lead-up to the 2023 January transfer window, but were unable to reach an agreement. With Lopetegui in charge, they should be able to sign the attacker this time.

Acuna, En-Nesyri’s teammate, is also expected to arrive in East London soon. The left-back was a member of Argentina’s World Cup-winning team in 2022, and he has played 23 games for Sevilla this season.

According to reports in Spain, Lopetegui is interested in both En-Nesyri and Real Madrid’s Joselu.

The 34-year-old is on loan at Madrid from Espanyol, and it has been reported that the move could be permanent this summer. Instead, Lopetegui wants to sign Joselu and add experience to West Ham’s forward line.

While Joselu is nearing the end of his career, he demonstrated his ability to influence big games earlier this week by scoring a late brace against Bayern Munich, advancing Madrid to the Champions League final.
