Tottenham told £50m EPL star bid will be accepted

Tottenham have received a significant boost in their bid to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford this summer, after interest in the striker from elsewhere dwindled.

On the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that a deal would only be done on Spurs’ terms, but a £50 million fee should be sufficient to complete it.

Toney is seen as a solution to the club’s striker problems, with 20 goals in his last full Premier League season catching the eye.

This season, the striker has four goals in 15 appearances after returning from a lengthy suspension for breaking the FA’s gambling rules.

According to O’Rourke, Arsenal and Chelsea’s previous interest in the forward has waned, giving him more freedom to pursue his goals.

Tottenham given free run in Ivan Toney transfer deal.

Since the departure of Harry Kane last summer, Ange Postecoglou’s team has been left without an orthodox central striker even though Heung-min Son has led the line impressively.

Toney’s ability to hold up play, bring his teammates into the game and score goals in abundance make him an ideal option and a top target for the club.

A £50million move could be a good deal for all parties, with Toney having joined Brentford for just £5million in 2020, allowing them to make a huge profit.

During that time, he has helped the club to achieve promotion and establish themselves in the Premier League.

Tottenham, meanwhile, would be securing a deal for an England international with a proven track record of Premier League goal scoring.

According to Football Insider, Toney is expected to prefer a move to North London, despite potential competition from West Ham.
