Former Infielder for the Seattle Mariners joins a National League West team

Infielder Brad Miller has agreed to a minor league contract with the San Diego Padres following a couple years of service with the Texas Rangers. Brad Miller, a veteran infielder, has agreed to a Minor League contract with the Padres, which includes an invitation to big league camp. He’s a left-handed hitter and should contend for a bench place.

With the Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Rays, Milwaukee Brewers, Cleveland Guardians, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, and Rangers, among other teams, the 34-year-old Miller played portions of 11 seasons in the major leagues.

At age 23, he signed with Seattle in 2013 with the intention of being a part of a youthful infield core that includes Nick Franklin, Dustin Ackley, and Kyle Seager. However, things didn’t really work out for everyone but Seager.

Miller has a lifetime batting average of.236 with 123 home runs and 405 RBI. With 30 home runs for Tampa Bay in 2016, he had his greatest season to date. He also had a 20-home run season with Philadelphia in 2021.

During his three years in Seattle, he hit.248 and blasted 29 home runs. If he can make the roster, he might offer the Padres some much-needed versatility. With the exception of catcher, he has experience at every position in his career. Miller is the player with the most shortstop and second base experience.

In addition to Jake Cronenworth in the infield, San Diego’s starting lineup includes Ha-Seong Kim and Xander Bogaerts.
