On Wednesday, one of the top prospects in the country for the 2026 class made his way back to Tennessee to watch the Vols’ inaugural spring scrimmage.
Prior to beginning his freshman year of high school, in June 2022, Aaron Gregory recalls making his first trip to Tennessee. However, it took the Vols almost six months to extend a scholarship offer to him after the visit, and since then, a lot has changed in his recruitment.
With offers from over 30 schools, the five-star athlete from Douglas County High School in Douglasville, Georgia, is currently among the most sought-after sophomores in the nation. Josh Heupel, the coach at Tennessee, has made him a top priority on his staff. Gregory was impressed once more when he returned to Knoxville on Wednesday to watch the Vols’ inaugural spring scrimmage.
When it comes to recruiting, the class of 2026 is still in its early stages.
The best sophomores in the country are already receiving a ton of offers, but very few have committed to a college.
Aaron Gregory, a five-star wide receiver and athlete from Douglas County, Georgia, is using this spring to set the groundwork for his future recruiting, which will involve visiting several possible schools.
The 6-foot-3, 170-pound pass-catcher visited LSU last weekend in Baton Rouge.
The trip turned out to be educational and might have created the conditions for the relationship to advance.
“I liked the practice and conversation with the coaches,” Gregory commented. “Watching film with coaches Joe Sloan and Cortez Hankton was an excellent way to learn. Brian Kelly, the head coach, is undoubtedly a brilliant football mind because he has only been in the game for a minute.”
Tennessee, Colorado, and Auburn are the next destinations.
Gregory gave a brief overview of every trip.
Auburn (March 16): “Just getting to see campus and meet the staff as this will be my first real visit to Auburn.” I’ve only come for a visit on game day.”
On March 22, Colorado, under the direction of Deion Sanders: “It would be a great opportunity and football mind to have as a head coach and mentor as well.”
Tennessee (the 27th of March): “I’ve visited Tennessee before… looking forward to going back to hear gameplans moving forward with Nico (Iamaleava).”
