HIGHLIGHTS

  •  Swansea boss Luke Williams may target a new striker this summer to boost the team’s offense.
  •  Potential interest in Notts County’s Macauley Langstaff, who has an impressive goal record.
  •  Langstaff is unlikely to leave unless Swansea (or another club) offers a significant fee & wage packet.

Williams has hinted that he plans to sign another forward to his team by mentioning that Swansea needs more natural finishers at the club before the upcoming campaign.

Mykola Kukharevych, who has only scored once, and Yates and Liam Cullen, who combined for 15 goals in the Championship this season, are the Swans’ current attacking alternatives.

Swansea’s pursuit of Macauley Langstaff, the standout striker for Notts County who collaborated with Williams during their fruitful time at Meadow Lane, would not come as a surprise. Swansea is apparently keeping an eye on the 27-year-old this summer.

Season Appearances Goals Assists
2023/24 (League Two) 46 28 4
2022/23 (National League) 45 41 6

Langstaff has made 96 appearances for the Magpies, scoring an amazing 70 goals and dishing out 10 assists. After scoring an extremely amazing 28 goals this season in League Two, he was awarded the Golden Boot.

It won’t be simple for Swansea to get Langstaff to South Wales this summer. The loss of their star player would hurt Notts County’s prospects of finishing in League One the following season, therefore the Swans would probably have to shell out a hefty sum.

Signing Langstaff will not be easy for Swansea

Langstaff acknowledged at the end of the season that he would need “something incredible” to entice him away from Meadow Lane this summer. After signing with Notts County in 2022 after being released by Gateshead, the striker seemed to enjoy playing for the team that allowed him the opportunity to demonstrate his exceptional goal-scoring talent.

Williams and Langstaff were both promoted back to the EFL with the Magpies in 2023 following their penalty-filled victory over Chesterfield at Wembley. The talisman for Notts County informed the BBC that he is now aiming for promotion to League One:”When we were promoted, my goal was to move the team to League One, but when I first came here, I wanted to get the team back into the Football League. It would take something extraordinary for me to leave in the three years I have left here.”

Langstaff was just named captain for the 2024–2025 season. Langstaff signed a new four-year deal ahead of Notts County’s first season back in the EFL.

Thus, it is doubtful in certain aspects that Swansea will be able to persuade Langstaff to leave Meadow Lane; but, it would be possible if they are prepared to provide “something incredible” in terms of a transfer fee and wage offer.
