Swansea City boss eyeing double raid of former club including former Coventry City man

The Swansea Independent claims that Swansea City is considering a double raid of manager Luke Williams’ previous team, Notts County, in search of attacker Macauley Langstaff and former Coventry City winger Jodi Jones.

Surprise update as Russell Martin plots Swansea raid over former club

Since Williams moved to Liberty Stadium, the Championship team has been strongly associated with the two Notts County players. However, now that the Summer 2024 transfer window is open, it seems likely that they are prepared to test the determination of the League Two team.

The management reportedly has Langstaff as his “top target,” and the Swans are expected to get off to a “perfect start” with Jones joining the team. Leeds United has also given the team a sizeable payment, which has been taken into consideration for the summer transfer budget. This might be encouraging as the team works to sign their objectives.

Langstaff Is Moving?

At the conclusion of the season, Langstaff was given the captain’s armband, a gesture he accepted despite the persistent rumours regarding his future.

Speaking to the club’s official media about the leadership transition, head coach Stuart Maynard stated:

“First of all, I would want to thank Kyle Cameron for serving as captain for the past three years on behalf of the entire club. Nobody doubts his contribution during his tenure in the post; he guided the squad back into the EFL.

But as we get ready for what promises to be another intensely competitive League Two promotion challenge, we believe this summer offers us a chance to make positive changes to the squad’s leadership structure.

Macaulay possesses all the qualities we look for in a club captain of this calibre. He has gained the respect of all parties involved—players, coaches, and fans—due to his extraordinary, dependable performances and his daily demeanour.

“As captain, he will have a significant impact in establishing the work environment that is necessary for us to succeed this season because of his contagious work ethic.

Although the decision to name the 27-year-old captain makes sense, it also shows that the team is prepared to hang onto the top scorer in the EFL for the upcoming campaign. The public gesture hasn’t, however, eliminated the references to his former employer.

Jodi Jones Likewise?

Jodi Jones is a player who belongs in League Two and probably wouldn’t be if he hadn’t suffered ACL problems. But since making a full recovery with Notts County, he has found his form again and shown the third division why his previous teams held such high regard for him. He was named the League Two Player of the Season for both his club and the league, and his performances earned him a spot on the team. He also received 23 league assists.

Notts County would find it tough to replace one of these stars, but losing both would be disastrous for the supporters and the team as they prepare to make a more competitive promotion campaign the following season.
