Swansea City have been linked with a move for Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Lee Nicholls
In the summer transfer window, Swansea City is looking to add a custodian, and a fresh name has surfaced on the reporting radar.
Carl Rushworth started in goal for the Swans during the previous season. The youthful custodian came from Brighton & Hove Albion to the Welsh team on a season-long loan.
Although it was generally known that they wanted to do the deal again this summer, Rushworth’s interest from Ipswich Town has made it less likely that City will sign him.
They have backup plans in case they don’t manage to sign their top target, just like any other club would in similar scenario.
Alan Nixon claims that Luke Williams’ team is aiming for Huddersfield Town custodian Lee Nicholls. The 31-year-old is reportedly free after the Terriers were demoted to League One.
He continued by saying that the two clubs still needed to agree on a fee and that Swansea’s offer was anticipated to be less than Huddersfield’s asking price for their top player.
This summer, the Swans are looking to add a new custodian.
Sports commentator Carlton Palmer has offered his opinion on what the Swans ought to do in order to avoid being shut out.
Lee Nicholls of Carlton Palmer, the Swansea City decision
Palmer thinks Swansea should go after Nicholls, but the money needed to get him might be a problem.
“Huddersfield Town’s custodian is in demand following their relegation to League One,” he told Football League World. Naturally, you want to play as high as you can, and Swansea is one team that is eager to sign him.
“The youthful Brighton custodian Rushworth was on loan with them, but he has already returned to his parent team. They are unsure if they will be able to re-sign him on loan. They will consider another shot-stopper until they have more information on that.
Nicholls won’t be inexpensive. He is bound to Huddersfield by contract. He is an excellent custodian who has performed well in the Championship; Swansea would be wise to sign him.
“The issue is that, in contrast to lending in Rushworth, they would have to pay a fee plus his salary to bring Nicholls in. There are a number of teams interested in Nicholls, so we’ll have to wait and see how that plays out. If Huddersfield decides to cash in, they’ll be hoping to obtain a sizable sum to replace him.”
Swansea is in a difficult situation in goalkeeping.
How would you respond if your Swansea? There is only one choice that you are certain about and adore, but you are unsure of your chances of landing him. Then there’s choice number two, who seems like a good wager given their background and the fact that you’re leading the race for them, but are you willing to pay what Huddersfield demands for him?

The chronology component must also be taken into account. The customary delays in Premier League loan agreements shouldn’t have as big of an impact on a Rushworth trade, but a Nicholls deal may go through much more quickly.
They are at the front of the queue for the Huddersfield keeper, but what happens if they decide Rushworth is the player they want and they wait for him and things don’t work out? The 31-year-old might have already signed with another team before then.
Swansea is going to be doing a lot of thinking and second-guessing right now, and it doesn’t look like a good place to be from the outside.
