Twente out of Driouech race
FC Twente is allegedly out of the running to sign in-demand Excelsior winger Couhaib Driouech.
The 22-year-old came close to joining Swansea City back in January, before opting to stay in the Netherlands.
The Swans are still believed to be admirers of the Moroccan, while Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven, who were also close to completing a winter deal, have been mentioned as potential suitors, along with Twente.
However, rumors say that PSV has already turned their focus to other targets, and the odds of Twente completing a trade have also been played down, with Diriouech now expected to leave abroad.
Appearing on ESPN’s Voetbalpraat show in the Netherlands, journalist Jan Joost van Gangelen said: “Driouech is not going to Twente, they cannot pay him.
“He himself is very much inclined to go abroad. Excelsior really wants to get a lot of money for him,” Van Gangelen continues.
Quizzed on the possibility of PSV, he added: “Well, PSV could be possible. But they no longer want him as much as they wanted him last winter.
“It would be a shame if Driouech ends up in a place where he actually ‘disappears’. For example, if he ends up at a second level of a top country.”
It’s not clear whether Swansea will look to firm up their lingering interest in the player this summer, but a winger is likely to be near the top of their wishlist, particularly in light of Przemyslaw Placheta’s release.
Rangers move for Barron played down
Rangers legend Derek Ferguson believes the club’s rivalry with Aberdeen means they are unlikely to land midfielder Connor Barron this summer.
The midfielder, who’s out of contract this summer, is on the radar of a number of clubs in the UK and abroad, including Swansea City, who failed in an attempt to bring him to south Wales back in January.
Rangers, Celtic, and several sides in Serie A have also been credited with interest, and while he believes Barron would be a good signing, Ferguson doesn’t believe a move to Ibrox is a realistic possibility.
Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “There’s a few good, young Scottish boys. There’s Lennon Miller who’s at Motherwell, there’s a few, and you should be targeting them.
“You see if you miss them in terms of bringing them into your academy and bringing them on then you should maybe be looking at some of these other academies that are blooding these young boys. Sign up to our Swansea City newsletter here.
“Lennon Miller is only 17 – you talk about Barron, I don’t think Barron would come anyway there’s that obvious dislike between Aberdeen and Rangers.
“But you look at these guys and you think you’ve got the tools you could work with, you could bring them on.
“We need the very best young Scottish players – I’m talking under 20 – bring them to the club, make them better and obviously if you get that sell on value that’s great but if you can get two or three years out of them then, my God, that’s the difference it makes because these are young guys that are hungry.”

Kompany is seemingly poised to complete a shock move to German giants Bayern Munich this summer, with the Clarets now poised to search for a replacement as they prepare for life back in the Championship.
According to transfer gossip guru Alan Nixon, Cooper and Frank Lampard are both being considered at Turf Moor, with former Swans boss Cooper out of work since leaving Nottingham Forest back in December.
Nixon claims chairman Alan Pace would be keen on a manager with a promotion on their CV, which would potentially leave Cooper well placed should he be interested in taking over.
