If the previous post on Jérome Rothen’s remarks hadn’t persuaded you that Will Still’s recent interview in England had irritated a lot of people in France, then the remarks made by the different guests on L’Equipe de Choc on Wednesday night would have.
The Stade de Reims boss, who was previously connected to Sunderland in December and caused controversy when he attempted to refute the existence of a meeting, is currently back on everyone’s bad side.
Following Micheal Beale’s dismissal three days ago, the 31-year-old put a transfer to the Black Cats on notice by publicly declaring that he would be willing to take over a strong Championship team.
Mike Dodds will serve as Sunderland’s temporary manager until the end of the current campaign. After that, the club will probably weigh their options and look to appoint a new manager.
It is unclear if that individual is Will Still, but there is sure to be a lengthy list of potential suitors for the young manager. The young manager is currently receiving a lot of criticism in France, as two commentators on L’Equipe de Choc have voiced their opinions.
“I find this a rare example of selfishness on his part, something you really shouldn’t do when you’re a manager like him,” began Bertrand Latour. If there were only a few games left, but it’s not even the end of February yet to make statements like this, given that you’re already in a challenging situation.

Although it appears that the manager doesn’t really care at this stage and is more concerned with himself than his team, Bertrand Latour continued, saying that this outing by Still was bound to irritate those in authority at his club.
Additionally, he forewarned the 31-year-old that Reims may make it difficult for him to depart in the summer and that, given his 2025 contract, the Ligue 1 squad would demand payment from any team that would be interested in signing him.
Therefore, if Still is the player Sunderland wants to lead the Black Cats to the next level, they will probably have to pay money to acquire him.
