Leeds exit confirmed as Premier League club target Sunderland star

The biggest and most expensive transfers that occur during the January transfer window are frequently the subject of much discussion, as Premier League teams frequently acquire the top young players from EFL teams.

However, after half a season of sport, clubs all throughout the EFL pyramid have their own business to do this month as aspirations of promotion and avoiding relegation become more apparent. These are a few of the most notable transfer sagas from today that include League One, League Two, and Championship teams…

Leeds departure verified, asking price “set”

Charlie Cresswell’s time at Elland Road appears to be running out, as a January departure from Leeds United appears likely due to a lack of playing time. It appears as though Cresswell’s departure from the FA Cup winning team against Peterborough is a sign that Leeds will contemplate selling, but only if a club is willing to match their £4-5 million valuation, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Although that seems like a high price for a player who doesn’t get many minutes, the young player is apparently being pursued by Ipswich, Middlesbrough, and Blackburn. The Post claims that Leeds would benefit financially from a multi-million dollar deal because Cresswell was developed through the academy.

EFL 72 states: Although you’d think the team would want to include a generous sell-on fee and/or a buy-back clause to ensure they can still profit should Cresswell go on to realise his obvious potential at his next club, a £4-5m fee realised as pure profit would give Leeds a lot of wiggle-room for January signings.

West Ham wants to sign a Sunderland starlet.

Jack Clarke has been a standout player for Sunderland, leading the Black Cats in goals scored so far this season with 12, but the club does face risks as a result of his success. West Ham is reportedly interested in the 23-year-old forward, but Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports adds that Sunderland is “under no pressure” to sell because of the player’s contract, which expires in 2026.

According to EFL 72, Clarke will examine Jarrad Bowen’s move from Hull to West Ham and conclude that David Moyes is a good choice to give him the opportunity to play Premier League football. However, Sunderland is in a strong position with his contract, so it would likely take a sizable offer—silly money, perhaps—to allow him to leave at this time.

Portsmouth and Derby are connected to the former Birmingham striker

Goal-scoring forwards are typically in high demand in January, and Cliftonville star Ronan Hale is facing intense competition in League One.Hale, who was previously at Birmingham, is reportedly being pursued by Derby, Portsmouth, Blackpool, Bolton, and Peterborough, according to Football Insider. Scouts from League One clubs are reportedly keeping a close eye on 22-year-old Hale since he has been making an impression in the Northern Ireland Premiership. However, they may need to move quickly because Wrexham is also rumored to be interested in the player and willing to pay a high salary.

According to Football Insider, Derby and Portsmouth are also interested in Wigan’s Callum Lang. Both teams view the former Liverpool star as a top target and a “key addition” to their plans, so it’s possible that he’s on the way. However, Rich Hughes of Pompey informed The News that they are not pursuing him, which would facilitate Derby’s situation.

EFL 72 states that while Pompey’s official attitude may be welcome news to teams like Derby, Blackpool, and Bolton in their arduous hunt for players with the ability to put the ball in the net, January is always a season of transfer rejection.

Hull dents the ambitions of Charlton and Bristol City

Bristol Rovers and Charlton Athletic are reportedly considering Hull City’s Greg Docherty as a potential midfield addition. But according to Hull Live, the Tigers may not let Docherty to leave just yet since they need him while Adama Traore and Jean Michael Seri are away at the AFCON.

According to EFL 72, Hull will not voluntarily deteriorate themselves given how thin their midfield is already. However, it is unclear if Docherty is prepared to overlook January interest in order to accommodate Traore and Seri’s return.
