Shawcross claims that “Young Potters showed grit to secure semi-final spot.”

Stoke will be back, says Ryan Shawcross - Eurosport

In the tense 3-2 victory over Stone Old Alleynians in the Staffordshire Senior Cup quarterfinals on Tuesday, Ryan Shawcross commended the Potters’ “grit and determination.”
The young Potters were led by City great Shawcross in the county competition in 23/24, and he witnessed as Keke Jeffers’ late penalty kick sealed a comeback victory and secured a last-four draw against Leek Town.
The former City captain expressed his satisfaction with the youthful Potters’ perseverance in achieving a result, even though they weren’t playing at their best, shortly after his team’s late winner.

“Although I was not happy with our actual performance, Shawcross clarified that the goal heading into the game was to advance to the next round because it is a cup tournament.
We had a bad and careless first half, but in the second we came out with grit and drive to stay in the game and win it.
Since this is a results-driven industry, I’m thrilled to have advanced to the next stage.
“There is much to consider and much room for improvement, but all in all, I’m really happy.”

Now that they have defeated Stone Old Alleynians and Wolverhampton Casuals, Shawcross’ team has advanced to the tournament’s final four.
The youthful Potters will need to defeat a Leek team that is presently enjoying an 18-match winning streak in order to have the chance to win their first Senior Cup title in seven years.
“This competition is 100% winnable; we want to win every competition we enter, but especially this one now that we’ve advanced to the semi-finals,” Shawcross continued.
“It’s going to be a really tough game; Leek are playing really well right now, but hopefully we can prevail.”
