Stockport County promotion winner joins new club amid Hartlepool United links…

AFC Wimbledon have snapped up Myles Hippolyte following his Stockport County exit, as announced by their official club website.

AFC Wimbledon have landed the winger on a free transfer and have handed him a two-year deal. Stockport County made the tough decision not to extend his contract following their League Two title win.

AFC Wimbledon sign winger

AFC Wimbledon have brought in Hippolyte to add more competition and depth to their attacking department.

He is an experienced player in the Football League and will give Johnnie Jackson something different going forward.

The Grenada international, who has two caps under his belt so far in his career, joined Stockport County in 2022 and helped them rise from the National League to League One during his time in the North West.

He made 92 appearances for the Hatters in all competitions and scored nine goals.

Hippolyte has also played for Falkirk, St Mirren, Dunfermline Athletic, Yeovil Town and Scunthorpe United in the past.

What next for AFC Wimbledon?

AFC Wimbledon will be hoping that their latest arrival can hit the ground running immediately when the new campaign begins.

They finished 10th in the table this past term and fell short of the play-offs in the end.

The Dons will be eager to mount another promotion push next year under the guidance of former Charlton Athletic man Jackson.

Hippolyte’s arrival will certainly boost their chances and he knows what it takes to get out of their division after playing a role in Stockport County going up.

The Hatters won the title and went up with Wrexham, Mansfield Town and Crawley Town.
