SKY REPORT: If Wrexham does something spectacular against Stockport County, they could break the six-year League Two record

Although Wrexham achieved a historic promotion to League One, Phil Parkinson’s team is aiming for more records.

On Saturday afternoon, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds carried on an exciting couple of seasons as they led the Wrexham flag.

For the first time in their 159-year history, Phil Parkinson’s team achieved back-to-back promotions with a 6-0 thrashing of Forest Green Rovers, capping off their promotion in style.

Successes in promotions don’t come around very often, let alone consecutively, so the players, manager, supporters, and owners must step up to save the day.

In addition to setting new records on the field, the Reds have increased their popularity in America, broken more attendance records, and generated revenue comparable to that of most Championship clubs.

As the season comes to an end and Wrexham concludes their brief tenure in League Two, Parkinson’s team looks to shatter one more record.

Wrexham is aiming to surpass the record when they play Stockport County
Wrexham has an incredibly impressive home record.

Compared to Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal this season, the Reds have the most victories (16) and goals scored (60) at home.

Wrexham is closing in on a six-year record and is completely dominant at the STōK Cae Ras, in contrast to their away form, where they rank sixth in the fourth tier.

With the most goals scored at home in League Two since the 1999–00 season, Wrexham is currently ranked second. With sixty, they are ahead of Notts County (58 – 2009/10), Chesterfield (59 – 2010/11), and Yeovil (57 – 2004/05).

With 62 goals scored at home in the 2017–18 season, Luton currently holds the record. Parkinson’s team can break the record, though, if they put a few past champions Stockport County on the last day.

Both teams will want to celebrate their outstanding seasons in style as Stockport won the title last night after thrashing Notts County 5-2.

Wrexham and Luton are comparable
While glancing at their record, Wrexham is comparable to Luton.

The two teams were forced to play in the National League for a considerable amount of time. The Hatters managed to get out of the fifth division in 2014, and they received consecutive promotions from League Two to the Championship in 2018 and 2019.

McElhenney and Reynolds are hoping to follow Luton’s path to stardom from last season, when they were promoted to the Premier League through the play-offs, after recording consecutive promotions.

Like the Hatters did in 2023, the Reds want to play in the premier league. And anything seems possible with their Hollywood stars in charge.
