Stevenage is reportedly interested in signing two players, Daniel Phillips from St Johnstone and Malachi Boateng from Crystal Palace, according to information from The Courier. Stevenage, led by manager Alex Revell, is gearing up for another season in League One and is on the lookout for new additions to strengthen the squad after finishing 9th in the previous campaign, narrowly missing out on the playoffs.
Phillips, aged 23, is nearing the end of his contract and has yet to agree on an extension, making him a potential free agent. Boateng, on the other hand, has returned to Crystal Palace after a loan spell at Dundee.
The report suggests that Stevenage has identified Phillips and Boateng as potential targets as they plan for the upcoming transfer window. Revell, who took over the managerial role permanently following Steve Evans’ departure to Rotherham United, is keen on bolstering his squad with promising talents.
Phillips, who began his career at Chelsea’s academy and later moved to Watford, has also had loan spells at Hemel Hempstead Town and Gillingham. He joined St Johnstone in 2022 and has since made 59 appearances for the club, earning seven caps for the Trinidad and Tobago national team.
Boateng, a product of Crystal Palace’s youth system, has had loan spells at Queen’s Park and Dundee, where he impressed with consistent performances in the Scottish Premiership.
Stevenage sees both players as valuable additions to strengthen their midfield options and provide healthy competition within the squad. The club is focused on making astute signings to ensure competitiveness in the upcoming season and aims to secure the signatures of Phillips and Boateng to achieve their goals.
