Jahcour Pearson, a wide receiver with the Battlehawks, caused a stir of worry among St. Louis supporters by posting a picture of himself on crutches following a knee injury on Instagram. Pearson was placed on injured reserve, according to a social media statement made by the league on Wednesday.

In a media conference on Wednesday afternoon, coach Anthony Becht said that while he may miss time, it looks like he will return at some point this season.

Becht stated, “He will be out for at least six weeks with the IR process.” “We intend to return him as soon as we can.He is an incredibly gifted and skilled wide receiver who contributed significantly to our team. Although we will miss him, he is going to treatment and will return as soon as possible. When he does, we will have a place reserved for him.

In January, Pearson was chosen by the Battlehawks at the UFL Dispersal Draft. With the Seattle Sea Dragons, he was one of the best receivers in the XFL last season, topping the league in grabs (60) and yards (670) with four touchdowns. He was selected by the league for its All-XFL team.

Prior to coming to Ole Miss in 2021, Pearson spent his first five seasons as a college player with Western Kentucky. With the Hilltoppers in 2019, he had his greatest season with 76 receptions for 804 yards and seven touchdowns.

The team will be saddened by the departure, but St. Louis still has a lot of quality at wide out. With the addition of Marcell Ateman, Blake Jackson, Steven Mitchell, and Darrius Shepherd, the receiving core of the team becomes one of the finest in the UFL, with or without Pearson, and quarterback A.J. McCarron’s favourite target, Hakeem Butler, is unlikely to go away.

Sunday is the first day of roster cuts for NFL teams, which must reduce their player count from 75 to 58. On March 30, the Battlehawks travel to Detroit to play the Michigan Panthers in Week 1 of the regular season.
