The TJ Ashford-coached Warriors started their debut season in the under-17 competition with losses to strong teams like Parramatta and the Sydney Roosters. However, they’ve shown improvement by securing wins against South Sydney (22-17) and Balmain Tigers (16-4).
Currently, they sit 10th on the ladder with six points, level with the sixth-placed Newcastle Knights. The team has gained two points from their bye week.
Loose forward Lennox Tuiloma has been a standout player in the recent victories, scoring a double against South Sydney and adding another try against Balmain Tigers.
On the other hand, the Illawarra Steelers are positioned 13th in the 17-team competition, having secured only one win from the four games they’ve played so far.
This upcoming match presents an opportunity for the One New Zealand Warriors to climb further up the ladder and continue their positive momentum in the Harold Matthews Cup.
