Shocking news: Rabbitohs key player converts to rugby union

A former South Sydney Rabbitohs winger has chosen to switch from rugby league to rugby union after spending two years playing in England.

Sitiveni Moceidreke, the elder sibling of Knights winger Laitia Moceidreke, made a single NRL appearance for the Rabbitohs in 2017 and scored a try.

After completing a two-year spell with the London Broncos, Moceidreke, who last played in the NRL seven years ago, has now joined the Western Sydney Two Blues, a rugby union club competing in the Shute Shield tournament.

Moceidreke, an international from Fiji, began his rugby league career with the St George Illawarra Dragons before moving to the North Sydney Bears, where he became a regular in the team.

He participated in the 2017 Rugby League World Cup and has also represented teams such as the Mount Pritchard Mounties (NSW Cup), Sunshine Coast Falcons (QLD Cup), Melbourne Storm (NRL Nines competition), and the Dragons (NSW Cup).

His younger brother Laitia recently earned a development contract with the Knights after moving from the North Queensland Cowboys.

“Laitia has shown outstanding performance during the off-season,” remarked the club’s football director, Peter Parr.

“His promotion to a development contract is a testament to his hard work and adds valuable depth to our wing position in the squad.”
