Sad News: Rabbitohs star forward set to miss rest of the season due to a severe injury, dealing a significant blow to Souths.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are facing a potentially significant setback with Origin back-rower Jai Arrow, who may be sidelined for the entire 2024 season due to a rotator cuff injury. Arrow sustained the injury during Souths’ Las Vegas opener against Manly, and the club is awaiting the surgeon’s findings to determine the extent of the injury.

While the best-case scenario entails a four-week recovery period, the possibility of surgery looms large, which would result in Arrow being ruled out for the entire season. This news comes at a challenging time for Souths, who have already lost star centre Campbell Graham to a sternum injury, likely sidelining him for six months.

The absence of Arrow, coupled with other injury and suspension concerns such as Jack Wighton’s suspension until Round 3 and winger Tyrone Munro’s pre-season injury, presents a significant challenge for Souths and impacts their title aspirations for the season.

Souths face the Broncos and the Roosters in the next fortnight and could be looking at an 0-3 start to their campaign.

Jason Demetriou is already under pressure after Souths’ dismal fade-out last season that saw them go from first after 11 rounds to miss the finals.

The 28-year-old Queensland forward played just 14 games last year after battling injuries, so a second injury plagued season would be a massive blow for Arrow and Souths’ premiership hopes.
