JUST IN: Sheffield Wednesday to pursue deal for Premier League starlet this summer

Brighton & Hove Albion’s goalkeeper, James Beadle, is being targeted by Sheffield Wednesday for a move this summer. As of now, Pierce Charles and Jack Hall are set to be the only professional goalkeepers at Wednesday when July 1st rolls around.

The goalkeeping department at Wednesday is in need of attention during the summer transfer window. Beadle’s name has been in discussions due to his impressive performance in helping the team avoid relegation. He became a regular in Danny Röhl’s lineup after joining in January, supported by coach Sal Bibbo at Middlewood Road.

Beadle ended his time at Wednesday with eight clean sheets in 19 Championship games, showcasing a solid 42.1% clean sheet percentage, second only to Illan Meslier among goalkeepers with substantial appearances.

There’s a desire within Wednesday to bring Beadle back for the 2024/25 season, with Röhl and Bibbo advocating for his return. However, it’s uncertain if Brighton would agree to part with him, especially given Wednesday’s likely budget constraints.

In addition to Beadle, Wednesday is also looking to secure permanent deals for Ian Poveda and Iké Ugbo, both of whom had successful loan spells in 2024. Although Röhl is currently on a break with his family, preparations for the upcoming season are underway behind the scenes at the club.
