Sheffield Wednesday have already lined up their first summer signing after clinching Championship safety.

Sheffield Wednesday won 2-0 against Sunderland on the final day of the Championship season, securing their league status for another year.

Danny Rohl’s season culminated in a dramatic and remarkable finale.

After going winless for 13 games, the Owls became the first Championship team to avoid relegation.

And immediately, emphasis is shifting to the summer and the 2024-25 season.

Sheffield Wednesday will lose several first-team players due to contract expiration in the summer, as well as those on loan.

However, it appears that the Owls have already lined up their first summer signing: loan star James Beadle.

Sheffield Wednesday are planning a James Beadle reunion.

Brighton’s custodian situation has been a source of concern, according to reports.

Beadle has impressed for Sheffield Wednesday this season, keeping eight clean sheets in 18 Championship games since signing in January.

According to The Athletic, Brighton may consider promoting Carl Rushworth, who spent the season on loan at Swansea City and was named Player of the Season.

Alan Nixon has disclosed on Patreon that both Wednesday and Swansea want to re-sign their loan goalkeepers this summer.

He stated, “Swansea and Sheffield Wednesday will be in Brighton this week to sign keepers Carl Rushworth and James Beadle.

“The two loanees have been stand outs in the championship, and both the Swans and Owls are keen to have them for another season.”

The one thing Sheffield Wednesday should be cautious about

Beadle’s return makes a lot of sense for Sheffield Wednesday.

He became a fan favourite due to his always improving and confident performances, which played a significant role in their victory.

Brighton will undoubtedly want Beadle to play at the highest level possible next season, with a complete season in the Championship looking the most likely scenario.

However, the Seagulls may want Beadle to compete at the top level of the division.

If Rohl can sign the players he wants this summer, the Owls’ recent form suggests they will be right up there.

However, those moves may not occur until late in the summer, after Brighton has decided where to send Beadle.

So it appears that Sheffield Wednesday may need to be wary of rival Championship clubs, particularly those that will be challenging, before signing anyone this summer to replace Beadle.

But Beadle seems to like his time in S6, and if the option is left to him, he may return to Wednesday in the near future.
