24-goal/assist Arsenal loanee set to be back on Sheffield Wednesday’s radar this summer

Sheffield Wednesday were interested in Arsenal youngster Mika Biereth during the January transfer window, but a move did not materialize for the Owls.

The Danish striker was eyed by Sheffield Wednesday as a potential recruit in January due to his impressive form on loan with Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership, where he scored six goals and provided five assists in 15 games. Arsenal recalled Biereth amid the Owls’ interest, raising hopes of a deal, but he ultimately signed for Sturm Graz in Austria until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old has continued his impressive goalscoring there too. Biereth has nine goals and four assists in 21 games for the club, catching the eye in both the Austrian Bundesliga and UEFA Conference League.

He’ll be back at Arsenal when the summer comes around though, and he should be back on the radar of Sheffield Wednesday.

A fantastic season for Biereth

Former Fulham prospect Biereth had been prolific in youth football before stepping up to the senior game.

The London-born ace has 15 goals and nine assists to his name across all competitions. He’s managed the step from Scottish to Austrian football with ease and you have to think more senior football awaits him next season.

A Championship move could be ideal for Biereth as he takes his game to the next level and at Sheffield Wednesday with a top coach like Danny Rohl, he could really make a name for himself.

 The Striker Situation at Hillsborough

It appears inevitable that Sheffield Wednesday will sign at least one striker this summer. There is a strong desire to retain influential loan player Ike Ugbo, but even if he secures a permanent deal, further reinforcements will be necessary.

Lee Gregory is set to depart, and Callum Paterson is also out of contract. Michael Smith has one year remaining on his deal, and Ashley Fletcher’s loan will soon come to an end. Bailey Cadamarteri will remain with the club.

A loan move for former target Biereth could be an ideal solution for the Owls as they aim to bolster their attacking options.

 Development for the Arsenal Prospect

While another season in a top-flight league might be on the horizon after this season’s success, the Championship offers a highly competitive environment. This could be the perfect setting for the Arsenal prospect to develop and gain valuable experience in the English game.
