Journalist Dom Howson has exposed Dejphon Chansiri’s remarkable performance at Sheffield Wednesday this season.

Chansiri has been the villain at Sheffield Wednesday this season.

The club’s success began with the departure of Darren Moore in the summer, shortly after achieving promotion from League One.

The nomination of Xisco Munoz, subsequent club pronouncements, and public fallout with Moore led to the founding of The 1867 Group.

Fans’ tolerance with Chansiri has reached an all-time low this season.

Last Saturday, Chansiri witnessed Danny Rohl’s team defeat West Brom 3-0 at Hillsborough Stadium.

The Owls are now in 20th place in the Championship league, three points above the relegation zone, with a final day encounter against Sunderland this weekend.

Dejphon Chansiri asked Danny Rohl to perform one thing at Sheffield Wednesday.

On the We Are Sunderland podcast, journalist Dom Howson discussed Sheffield Wednesday’s back-room team, including Chris Powell.

Powell was among several seasoned players who joined Rohl at Hillsborough when he arrived in October.

Powell has since become a popular name among Sheffield Wednesday fans.

According to Howson, Chansiri suggested that Rohl have a British name on his coaching staff.

“I’m led to think that the owner, Chansiri, was quite keen on having a British coach as part of the setup. And it’s not unusual for Wednesday to have that in their nine years of Chansiri ownership; it was the same when they had Carlos Carvalhal, and he had Lee Bullen.”

Is the tide turning for Dejphon Chansiri at Sheffield Wednesday?

Chansiri has had a tough season.

He is thought to have spent the majority of the season in his native Thailand, coming to Sheffield just for Wednesday’s final home game last weekend.

Many people believed it was a risky move, given the demonstrations and backlash he has seen this season.

However, as a fan confronted Chansiri and pushed him away, many Sheffield Wednesday supporters sided with him.

And Howson’s disclosure concerning Powell may indicate that Chansiri does, in fact, have some insight into club things.

Fans are still mainly opposed to his ownership, but a great summer with Rohl as the first priority could earn Chansiri many fans.

Sunderland vs. Sheffield Wednesday begins at 12:30pm on Saturday.
