Derby County Advised to Sign ‘unbelievable’ Craig Forsyth Upgrade on Free Transfer

Burrows Pens Long-Term Deal At Posh | Peterborough United - The Posh

Derby County is gearing up for their return to the Championship and is in need of a significant upgrade over the long-serving Craig Forsyth. Two years after their relegation, they have secured their place back in the Championship with a 2-0 victory over Carlisle United, sparking joyous celebrations on the pitch.

Looking ahead to next season, Paul Warne will be busy making plans, especially with 12 players’ contracts set to expire, signaling a potentially eventful summer at Pride Park. Among those likely to depart is left-back Craig Forsyth, a valued player who has contributed greatly to the club over the years.

Forsyth, signed from Watford in 2013 for a reported £150,000, has amassed an impressive 340 appearances for Derby, scoring 10 goals and providing 29 assists. Admired for his reliability and skillful left foot, his potential departure will be a poignant moment for the club, especially considering his contract expires in June.

At 35 years old, and considering his injury history and the demands of playing in the Championship, it may not be practical to extend Forsyth’s contract, even on a short-term basis.

A potential replacement for Forsyth could be Harrison Burrows, who has enjoyed a standout season at Peterborough United. The 22-year-old, primarily a winger but adept at left-back, has been instrumental in attack, registering six goals and 14 assists in League One. His impressive performances have garnered interest, with Peterborough rejecting bids for him in January.

Burrows’ ability to deliver from the left flank, as well as his versatility to operate in different defensive formations, makes him an attractive prospect for Derby. His inclusion would provide healthy competition for current starter Louie Sibley and offer tactical flexibility for the team.

Although securing Burrows’ signature may pose a challenge due to competition from other Championship clubs, he represents a promising long-term replacement for Forsyth and is certainly worth pursuing for Derby County.
