Dejphon Chansiri has kept his wallet in his pocket for a while now, mostly bringing in loan signings and free agents in recent years.

Sheffield Wednesday have felt the effects of his lack of commitment, spending much of the campaign in the relegation zone.

Danny Rohl has signed a new contract now though, and that was only likely to happen if the club were to meet his demands.

The German wanted the Middlewood Road training facilities improved, while he also needed promises made that he would have more cash to spend.

It is now expected that Rohl will be trusted to bolster the ranks this summer and will have some cash to do it, however it has been reported that the club still don’t want to spend their money on transfer fees.

Speaking on his Patreon, journalist Alan Nixon said: “Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri will back boss Danny Rohl with cash – but wants loan and free signings.

“Chansiri is delighted with Rohl and is prepared to spend but Owls are looking to pay decent wages rather than transfer fees.

“Wednesday are looking in both the domestic and foreign markets for players in that bracket.”

While this gives Sheffield Wednesday a boost in their bid to sign Premier League loanees and free agents, it doesn’t really benefit them in the long-term.

Fans have grown frustrated as the club refuse to buy, having brought in 13 loan stars and free agents since last summer.

It does feel like the only way the club can move forward and take their squad to the next level is by buying some new players who can help rebuild and grow with the team, rather than just leaving next summer.

If Rohl wants a player with plenty of Championship experience, then the club’s unwillingness to spend on transfer fees isn’t going to help at all.

However, the 35-year-old must be content with this, otherwise he wouldn’t have signed a new deal.

Supporters will be delighted if the club bring back the likes of James Beadle on loan, butthey will end up right back in the same position when all the key players leave next summer.
