The 25-year-old forward, previously a target for Wednesday a couple of seasons ago, has been instrumental for West Bromwich Albion in the 2024/25 season, netting 11 goals in the Championship as they strive for a top six finish and a chance at promotion through the play-offs.
Thomas-Asante had a strong run with two goals in three matches leading up to the encounter with Sunderland earlier this month. However, he received two quick yellow cards in that game, resulting in his expulsion and subsequent absence during the narrow 2-1 loss to Leicester City over the weekend.
Despite the dismissal, his ban was limited to just one game, allowing him to rejoin the squad for the upcoming fixture at Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon. Expected to slot back into Carlos Corberan’s starting lineup, he aims to trouble the Owls’ defense as he has done consistently this season.
The attacker was a regular presence in the West Brom lineup until a February injury sidelined him for a period. Since his return, he has featured in seven Championship matches, including starting in the last four outings.
West Bromwich Albion, however, continues to face challenges on the injury front, with Daryl Dike nursing a long-term Achilles injury, alongside Jayson Molumby. Martin Kelly, who has yet to play a minute this season, remains on his path to recovery from injury.
