After a season of NBA basketball, San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama demonstrated his potential to become a league force, if not already. Despite initial doubts, Wembanyama’s critics in the 2023-24 NBA season, notably fellow rookie and Memphis Grizzlies up-and-comer GG Jackson, now praise him.
In fact, Jackson believes Wemby will one day be regarded as the GOAT, or best player of all time.

Jackson spoke about Wembanyama in a recent appearance on FanDuels’ Run it Back (source: Beale Street Bears).
“This is very, very biased, but, to me, he’s going to be the greatest player to ever play this game in my opinion… I was a hater when he came in. I was like ‘He’s not too strong, what does he do against bigger bigs?’ He just blows by them. I said his handle wasn’t that great and they gonna poke it. He’s doing shamgods from the three-point line and then goes to the layup. I said he couldn’t shoot that good and [he’s doing] fastbreak transitions, pulling up from volleyball lines. He literally has everything. The only thing that can stop him is himself.”
It is too early to predict Wembanyama’s NBA future, but there are certainly hints that he will rule the league shortly.He earned the 2023-24 NBA Rookie of the Year award and came in second in the 2023-24 NBA Defensive Player of the Year voting.
