Rotherham United’s manager, Steve Evans, has shared insights into the club’s proactive recruitment efforts ahead of the new season. In a recent interview with the club’s official site, Evans mentioned that he has met with numerous players in the past five days, more than the fingers on his hands, underscoring the extensive search for new talent.

Evans highlighted the collaborative efforts with Head of Recruitment Rob Scott and Assistant Manager Paul Raynor, emphasizing that they have meticulously reviewed their list of targets. They have developed a comprehensive plan that will be presented to the club’s Board and Chief Operating Officer Paul Douglas. Evans stressed the importance of having multiple preferred targets to ensure they are well-prepared for the challenges of League One.

He acknowledged the competitive nature of League One, noting the strength of teams relegated from the Championship, the established clubs in the division, and newly promoted sides like Wrexham. Evans expressed confidence in the backing from club chairman Tony Stewart and the club’s clear focus on strengthening the squad.

Reflecting on his return to Rotherham United, Evans expressed his excitement and commitment to the club. He noted his affection for the supporters and his determination to deliver success after a challenging year. Evans also shared that only two clubs could have lured him away from his previous role at Stevenage: Glasgow Celtic and Rotherham United.

Evans concluded on an optimistic note, expressing hope that his efforts will secure the signings needed for a strong season. He reassured fans that there is a contingency plan in place should their primary targets not come through, demonstrating thorough preparation and commitment to achieving the club’s goals.
