To address the team’s forward issues, Rangers need to have brought in Lawrence Shankland during the summer, claims Tom English.
In an interview with the Scottish Football Podcast on Wednesday, December 13, the head sports writer for BBC Scotland questioned whether Cyriel Dessers and Kemar Roofe are reliable players for the Gers.
Since none of the Light Blues’ forwards have produced anything truly noteworthy thus far this season, he feels that the team ought to have acquired the 28-year-old Hearts captain in the summer.
“Cyriel Dessers leads Danilo in the league with five goals, despite the fact that many believe Danilo is superior—and for good reason. It’s Abdallah Sima, all right. It’s all well and good Rangers trying to bring players in from across Europe in search of bargain deals, but Shankland was a signing that was staring them in the face.
Occasionally, it’s necessary to appoint players who are familiar with the division, and the forward, who has 40 goals in 70 games for Hearts, most definitely falls into that category.
The Gers spent £4.5million to bring in the 29-year-old Cyriel Dessers, who is actually a year older than the Scotland international.

However, given that Danilo is now expected to miss several months due to injury, the forward position remains an area they may need to improve.
