“I spoke with his agent,” The reporter believes that the Rangers will not be moving in January.

Rangers are looking to sign a striker in January but reporter Stefan Bleeker cannot see Kevin van Veen returning to the Scottish Premiership after talking with the Groningen striker about his future.

Danilo has played his last game of 2023 due to injury and, by the time the Rangers frontman returns to full fitness, he could find himself competing with another number nine for a place in Philippe Clement’s XI.

Clement, speaking to Rangers Review on Friday, admitted that a striker had become one of January’s top ‘priorities’ as the extent of Danilo’s injury became clear.

This, coupled with the rumours swirling over Kevin van Veen’s head, have led to speculation suggesting that a man who scored 25 Premiership goals for Motherwell in 2022/23 could be on his way back to Britain.

Could Rangers make Kevin van Veen?

Van Veen told the Scottish Sun recently that Rangers had shown interest in him over the summer, prior to his £500,000 move to Groningen.

But, despite falling out of favour at the Euroborg, Dutch reporter Stefan Bleeker believes that Van Veen is not going to turn his back on the battle.

“Rumours about a possible loan are not true,” Bleeker tells RTV Noord. “I have spoken to Van Veen and his agent, and I get the impression that Van Veen really still really wants to prove himself here.”

The well-travelled Van Veen, who played south of the border with Scunthorpe United and Northampton Town before crossing Hadrien’s Wall, was nominated for Scotland’s Player of the Year award last term.

Philippe Clement wants a striker

According to The Sun, Rangers also have an interest in Bojan Miovski. The Montenegro international has been a bright spark in a dark season for Aberdeen, but is likely to be a little on the expensive side with the Dons holding out for a Premiership-record fee.

Aberdeen want more than the £4.4 million Celtic paid to sign Scott Brown back in 2007. That is still the most expensive transfer agreed between two Scottish clubs.
