Lennon Miller, a young player from Motherwell, is someone Kenny Miller thinks both Celtic and Rangers should recruit in January.

The 17-year-old midfielder made his debut for the Steelmen during the previous season, and he recently pledged his loyalty to the team through the summer of 2026.

His form has obviously caught the attention of some clubs after he has impressed so far this season. Former Rangers and Celtic player Kenny Miller thinks he might be a useful acquisition for one of Glasgow’s big two.

Miller made 14 appearances this season before suffering a fractured patella, and Stuart Kettlewell’s side are currently missing his talent in the middle of the park.

“The one that kind of stands out for me at the moment, but he’s still very, very young with few games under his belt, is the lad Lennon Miller at Motherwell,” Kenny Miller said to Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.

“I continue to believe that if he signed with one of the Old Firms, it would be more of one of those projects because he hasn’t had enough time to establish himself in the starting lineup. And he’s still quite young. Over the years, Rangers and Celtic have undoubtedly simply chosen the top players in the league by hand, but in the last ten or so years, they appear to have strayed from that practice.”

Gordon Dalziel, the former striker for Rangers, concurred as well.

“I believe you had quite a few in the past when folks like Scott Brown and Kevin Thomson were making appearances. There also appeared to be a good number produced by teams like Dundee United. Looking at our leagues, I don’t think the standards are quite the same as they used to be.

“Clubs have several options to allow younger players to participate in games. However, I don’t think this season will produce the next Scott Brown just yet.

“Maybe it’s just that after a few years, two or three start to emerge with a little bit of experience and play football for the first team, and then the major clubs start to take notice.”
