After making an impression at Scottish rivals Kilmarnock, Will Dennis, a goalkeeper for Premier League team AFC Bournemouth, may be targeted by Rangers.
Ibrox great Ally McCoist said that Jack Butland was maybe the team’s “best signing in years.” Thursday’s thrilling Europa League victory over Real Betis featured a number of superb saves from the summer transfer from Crystal Palace.
But beyond Butland, things are a little less certain for Rangers’ goalkeeper.
According to the Daily Record, Robby McCrorie is eager to go on loan in January in order to increase his chances of playing at Euro 2024. Meanwhile, veteran Jon McLaughlin is nearing the end of his deal.
Likewise, Will Dennis. In July, the goalkeeper who plays for Bournemouth will also be free agency. However, Dennis should not have any trouble finding offers in the new year given his success while on loan at Kilmarnock.
Rangers face Celtic battle for Kilmarnock’s Will Dennis
The 23-year-old is being watched closely by both Rangers and Celtic, who are Old Firm rivals, with scouts from the Ibrox outfit observing Dennis at Rugby Park. The Englishman has kept ten clean sheets this season, including seven in the Scottish Premiership, against Watford and Luton Town.
The only people with more are Rangers’ own Butland and Zander Clark of Hearts.
Dennis also attracted attention on the first day of the season, when Kilmarnock beat Mick Beale’s Gers team back in August.
Goalie Philippe Clement is looking for a new one.
Dennis, who is following in the footsteps of Freddie Woodman and Daniel Bachmann in Ayrshire, told Herald Scotland in August that it was excellent to have top-flight experience under his belt.
“A goalie’s primary responsibility is to prevent the ball from entering the net. Additionally, there are talented players vying for points in this competition. The atmosphere here is fantastic, and the fans are even better.
“Kilmarnock and Scottish football is a fantastic pathway for everyone.”
