Rangers want to sign new striker in club-record deal ahead Celtic & PL sides – report

Rangers want to sign Aberdeen star Bojan Miovski to bolster their attack this summer in what would be a club-record sale, according to FotMob.

Writing on their website (23 May), the news outlet report that there are five clubs seriously interested in the North Macedonia international including Celtic, Southampton, Feyenoord and Bologna.

Another 15 clubs are said to be monitoring his situation, and the “most likely scenario” this summer is that he leaves the club in a deal worth more than any of their previous sales in history – with the record being the initial £4.2m rising to £6.5m that Liverpool paid for Calvin Ramsey.

That price tag could prove to be a “stumbling block” for Philippe Clement and the Rangers board, with a busy summer expected at Ibrox.

Rangers cannot afford to splash that type of money on Miovski

The summer at the club is going to be immensely busy, with transfers already underway with left-back Jefte set to sign and centre-back Jose Cordoba expected to follow closely behind.

But there is an acceptance that attacking reinforcements are going to be very important for the squad too if they are to catch and overtake Celtic next season.

Cyriel Dessers has done a solid enough job leading the line, but Abdallah Sima has been fantastic too and he will be a costly signing if the club want him to join permanently from Brighton during the transfer window.

Philippe Clement is set for a busy summer with Rangers.

And if Sima is seen as someone who is a priority target, then without a major sale they surely can’t afford to splash a big fee on Miovski too.

The club have to be sensible but also aggressive in the transfer market and if there is a way to get this deal done then they absolutely should do it, but it won’t be easy.
