Thanks to an injury, Rangers manager Philippe Clement has all but ruled out Nicolas Raskin from the ViaPlay Cup Final against Aberdeen.
The 49-year-old Belgian manager was discussing the midfielder’s circumstances following the team’s 2-0 Scottish Premiership victory over St Mirren.
With the Dons match at Hampden Park on December 17th approaching, Philippe Clement had been answering inquiries over Nicolas Raskin’s injury status.
Nicolas Raskin might miss the ViaPlay Cup Final due to an injury.
When questioned about Nicolas Raskin’s availability for the ViaPlay Cup Final, the manager responded that the midfielder’s rehabilitation was “not going well.”
It doesn’t seem like good news either, as it becomes less and less probable that the Rangers star will be available for the Hampden highlight.
Clement stated, “I think the chances are really small, at the moment.” “I am not a doctor, but this is how I see it.”
“We’re going to go to the best people to find the best and fastest solution for him because I’m definitely not a specialist or a professor in those things.”
When asked about an update on injuries earlier in the press conference following the game, Clement stated: “Ryan Jack won’t be out for too long. Nicolas Raskin will get a new evaluation at the start of the week because his recuperation is having problems.
“I am not happy about that, but we have to find other solutions for the time being because that is the way things are.”
Rangers search for novel answers to persistent issues.
Injury concerns have plagued Philippe Clement’s squad ever since he joined the Rangers, and the current state of affairs involving Nicolas Raskin is just the most recent in a long line of troubles.
When the 22-year-old midfielder sustained the injury during the late 2-1 victory over Hearts at Ibrox, he appeared to be a key member of his countryman’s Rangers team.
Nicolas Raskin was stretchered off the field, and the Rangers haven’t been able to utilize him since. It’s obvious that his injury is severe enough to keep him out of action for some time.
From where we sit, we’d be surprised to see Nicolas Raskin for the remainder of 2023, but Rangers supporters are accustomed to these kinds of soundbites.
Rangers are rumored to have rebuffed interest from around Europe for Nicolas Raskin, who was signed from Standard Liege for an estimated £1.3 million last January.
The injury has left Rangers and Philippe Clement searching for new answers; in the team’s victory over the Saints, the Belgian coach used Tom Lawrence in a deep-lying midfield role.
