Transfer negotiations regarding the permanent signing of Brighton loanee Abdallah Sima are reportedly scheduled, according to Rangers manager Philippe Clement.
The 22-year-old forward for Senegal has made an impression since joining Ibrox on loan in the summer. He scored his 10th and 11th goals of the year in the victory over St. Mirren over the weekend.
Of course, it’s too early to be doing that at this point. The fact that Abdallah is performing and enjoying himself so much in the club is what matters most. That is the initial stage, and from there, we can expand.
“I believe this is a good place for him to grow, as a player, as a person, in everything, if he keeps doing what he is doing now.”
Rangers’ mindset is acknowledged
While Abdallah Sima’s abilities are undeniable, Philippe Clement has also praised his winning mindset.
A strong personality is required at a team like Rangers, and the former manager of AS Monaco thinks Abdallah Sima contributes to the positive vibe he’s seeking to create in Glasgow.
“It’s a demanding club, so you either love it or find it hard,” Clement remarked.
“To be strong with that when people are not happy about things, you need a big personality.” Then you have to persevere. And these past few weeks, Allah has demonstrated that.
“He won’t be receiving accolades all the time. However, he perseveres, and it is another aspect of the player evaluation that requires close examination.
“It’s not just about the physical, tactical, and technical attributes; it’s also about the personality, the capacity to thrive in the winning club atmosphere.
“I also want to establish a winning culture here. People who are resilient even in the face of adversity.
“I also want the fans to support the players, encouraging them to push through challenging times and thinking that if they put in the effort, the players would succeed. Thus, that is what we must produce.
Is Gers’ Sima move realistic?
While Philippe Clement, the manager of Rangers, is obviously a huge fan of Abdallah Sima, it remains to be seen whether Brighton will be open to playing.
The enormous sums of money Rangers are unable to function in the Premier League’s financial environment, and Brighton are among its most skilled negotiators.
You can bet your bottom dollar that they signed Abdallah Sima with the intention of making a profit, as they had already made hundreds of millions of dollars from player sales to the biggest teams in the division.
That implies that even though the attacker will be entering the final year of his contract next season, Rangers still need to pay Brighton at least the £7 million that they spent for him.
Maybe the agreement might include an appropriate repurchase clause that would allow Brighton to reclaim the striker at a reduced cost in the event that he blows up at Rangers.
But one thing is for sure: there is still a lot of negotiation to be done if Philippe Clement and the Rangers are serious about Abdallah Sima.
