TIME TO GO: Rangers put striker on transfer list

A forward that the Rangers acquired in the summer transfer window prior is ‘planning’ to take transfer offers.

It seems that Sam Lammers’ time with Rangers may be coming to an end; there have been whispers that the Light Blues may entertain bids for the midfielder in the summer transfer window.

This is consistent with a recent report from Football Insider. It appears that Lammers’ time as a Rangers player is running out because Light Blues manager Philippe Clement is ‘unlikely’ to change his mind about this. Clement would likely have to let go of a few important players who are already with the team in order to bring in a handful of his own players to the Ibrox Stadium in the summer.

Lammers is currently on loan with FC Utrecht in the Eredivisie. He is performing admirably for the Domstedelingen, having played every minute of the league since his arrival. In 10 games thus far, he has scored three goals and provided three assists.

Should the Rangers let Sam Lammers go permanently in the summer?

Lammers was one of several players who the now-fired Michael Beale signed in the summer, along with Danilo, Jose Cifuentes, and Leon Balogun. Since joining the Gers, he has made 17 appearances in the Scottish Premiership, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

Given that Lammers looks to be playing noticeably better in The Netherlands than he has so far in Scotland, letting him leave the club in the summer seems like the right decision for all parties. Clement doesn’t appear to have a place for him, in addition to the fact that he seems to be failing him.

The 26-year-old’s £3.5 million transfer to Rangers was paid in full. It makes obvious that they would want to recoup at least some of this initial expenditure, however it is unclear how much money they would demand to get him out of the club.
