The 30-year-old, who was pursued by Premier League struggling team Forest in the last days of the January transfer window, has made a significant impression since arriving to Scotland in the summer.

Clement is happy that he was able to keep the services of the former England internationalist, having disclosed that he was not even informed of the offer.

He remarked, “Without spending a lot of money, everyone in the club, including the board, has worked really hard and been really creative to bring talented players into the building.”

“We knew going into the window that the majority of the budget was actually spent during the summer.

It’s true that the team needed to be strong when players were offered large sums of money, but you can’t be both ambitious and sell players at the same time without having players of at least the same caliber join you.

“There’s a different scenario in the summer, when you have more time to work and can get ready for the interest that is coming in a much longer market.”

In general, there were players who could have moved on to more intriguing teams and competitions, but they chose to stay, according to Clement.

“It’s definitely a significant improvement over three months ago, in my opinion.

“I am really happy about this January in that regard, because they feel like they are in a good story and can do something special together.”

“Players sometimes use all of their emotional reasons for wanting to leave, but in this case, they stated they wanted to stay at Rangers despite receiving a few offers.”

Oscar Cortes, who arrived on loan from RC Lens until the rest of the season on deadline day, was the first of three acquisitions that Rangers accomplished during the window.

When the 20-year-old’s loan agreement expires, the Ibrox winger will have the opportunity to purchase him on a permanent transfer.

Clement was thrilled to have reached an agreement to have the Columbian join the team.

“If he takes the right steps and learns the right things, he’s somebody with a lot of quality and a big future,” he remarked.

It wasn’t the simplest thing for him to do on his first encounter with Lens in Europe. I am aware that Lens facesALFTI intense competition and plays in a different way than he is accustomed to.

It’s difficult to play a position you’re not used to because he is a natural winger and they don’t utilize wingers in their system.

The 49-year-old acknowledged that Cortes will require some time to get used to life in Scotland, but he had good experiences with footballers from Columbia at both Club Brugge and Genk.

“Jose Izquierdo and Carlos Bacca were at Brugge when I was an assistant, and they went on to play in the Premier League, Serie A, and La Liga,” he stated. “Jhon Lucumi was a young player I had at Genk.”

“He arrived as a center-back when he was eighteen or nineteen years old, and he also took the right actions because all three of them put in a lot of work.”

It’s crucial to keep in mind that every person is unique when it comes to culture shock, so you should consider that.

“With Carlos, I recall that after two months, Christoph Daum, the coach at Brugge at the time, went to the scouting team and complained that he was awful and that he could not understand why he was signed. Some players, like Izquierdo and Bacca, take more time to adjust, while others adapt quickly.

But four months later, he was the squad’s best player, and a year after, he led the team in scoring. It took him some time to adjust, so I’m interested to see how quickly Oscar adjusts to life in Europe.

“As a club, it is our responsibility to support him, and as a manager, my staff, and everyone else nearby will do so. We will give that our full attention in addition to on-field concerns.”
