Rangers stat has left one pundit convinced Philippe Clement can continue to guide the club on lengthy unbeaten runs.

The Belgian is undefeated in his first 16 games as Ibrox manager and scooped the Viaplay Cup last weekend by defeating Aberdeen at Hampden. He will be expected to defeat Motherwell at Fir Park on Sunday with some attentions beginning to turn towards next weekend’s huge derby clash with Celtic.

Former Scotland star Pat Nevin has been left very impressed with the work carried out by Clement in the early stages of his reign. Michael Beale left the club in October with a gap to make-up on Celtic, but Rangers can go two points behind their rivals with two games in hand at Motherwell. They have conceded just eight league goals in 17 matches – three under their current boss’ regime – and Nevin has been left stunned over the stat which is the basis for strong form.

He told Sportsound: “It is 16 games, won 13, drawn three. Not lost in his last 16 games. Have a look at the league. Eight goals shipped in the Premiership so far this season.

“That is extraordinary. It might not be all singing and dancing all of the time but see if you ain’t giving away goals, you haven’t half got a chance to win games and go and runs of games. I think that is an extraordinary number.”
