Journalist speculates that a big-money player could leave Rangers on loan because “Heerenveen written all over him.”

Sam Lammers has “Heerenveen written all over him,” according to Calum Crowe, who has predicted that the Dutchman will leave Rangers when the January transfer market opens.

In the Light Blues’ Thursday, November 30, tie with Aris Limassol at Ibrox, the 26-year-old had a terrible evening for Philippe Clement’s team. He struggled to make an impact and was replaced by the Belgian after 58 minutes.

After joining Rangers in the summer, Lammers has had difficulty settling into Glasgow. He has only scored twice in the Scottish Premiership, and Crowe thinks that following his most recent lackluster showing, the Dutchman will definitely be going out on loan.

“When Lammers did eventually depart on 57 minutes, he was met with ironic cheers from the crowd as he trotted off to be replaced by Tom Lawrence,” the writer wrote in the Scottish Daily Mail (Dec. 1, page 87).

As you can expect, this was the last straw for the Dutchman. Lammers appears to have a loan move to a team like Groningen or Heerenveen written all over him with the January transfer window approaching.

Take him out.

Though all of Michael Beale’s summer transfer window additions have been flattering to deceive, few have looked worse in a Rangers shirt than Lammers, who has become more and more unappealing at Ibrox with every passing week.

The 26-year-old appeared off-pace on Thursday night, playing as though he had been selected from the crowd to begin the pivotal Europa League match. If such were the case with an academy prospect, it could be forgiven, but not with a big-name signing.

All sides would benefit greatly if Rangers could move him out of Ibrox on loan in January, but given the Dutchman’s recent play, it appears that the Light Blues may have trouble finding a taker.

Since Lammers joined Rangers, he hasn’t done much to indicate that he can impact games at any level, so even teams like Groningen and Heerenveen won’t be lining up to sign him for the second half of the season.

Rangers may have to play Lammers for some time to come, but following his dreadful performance on Thursday, Clement will undoubtedly be unable to start the 26-year-old in the upcoming games.
