‘Incredible’ footage on Sky Sports has Scott Arfield calling for Rangers to sign a deadly finisher.

Rangers should sign Lawrence Shankland, according to Scott Arfield, as he watches ‘incredible’ Hearts footage on Sky Sports.

Scott Arfield wants Rangers to sign Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland after the player scored two goals in the team’s victory over St. Mirren.

The player’s double helped the Edinburgh team defeat St Mirren 2-0 on Saturday, December 23, at Tynecastle.

The 28-year-old has made 10 of his 25 appearances in all competitions this season, and he has 15 goals in the league.

Regarding Shankland’s opening goal against St. Mirren, Arfield remarked, “This goal is incredible, for me it is going to be the goal of the season” [Sky Sports, 24 December].

Arfield also said, “I would love to see him there,” in response to the question of whether he would like to see Shankland at Rangers. Simply put, I believe that Rangers and Celtic have a situation where they don’t really invest in Scottish players. It simply doesn’t occur, for whatever cause.

“You have a goal scorer there with proven ability, and I think Rangers would be foolish not to sign Shankland if they want to fully commit, especially given his current form.”

Best player

Of course Shankland is one of the best players and has been for a while, but it would take a lot of work to persuade Hearts to part with their star player.

The Scotland international has been making an impression for the national team lately, and the striker has repeatedly shown that he has what it takes to score goals at this level.

In addition to his ten goals in the Scottish Premiership this season, the striker scored three goals in the Europa Conference League qualifying and twice in the League Cup.

After Alfredo Morelos left Ibrox for the summer transfer window, Rangers made an effort to strengthen their front line.

Along with Abdallaha Sima joining on loan, Michael Beale signed Cyriel Dessers, Danilo, and Sam Lammers to long-term contracts.

However, not all of them have made an impression since joining, so next month Philippe Clement might be shopping for a new striker.
