IMPOSSIBLE Rangers will undergo a significant financial makeover as a result of Celtic’s mismanagement of millions of dollars.

According to Peter Martin, Rangers’ financial situation will undergo a “massive change of direction” if they win the title since they stand to earn up to £60 million in addition to automatic Champions League status.

The host of PLZ Soccer answered on The Football Show on February 19 in response to Peter Rough’s query on why Celtic had not made investments in January to bolster their struggling team given the substantial prize at the end of the season.

Although they didn’t sign the striker many had anticipated, the Light Blues did agree to pay a “huge” £4.5 million fee for Mohamed Diomande. The midfielder scored the team’s first goal in the 3-0 victory over St Johnstone, which sent them to the top of the SPFL.

“Everyone knows what’s dangling at the end of this season, it’s automatic entry,” Rough remarked (19 minutes and 45 seconds). Another forty, fifty, sixty million pounds, I guess? How come you would fiddle with it in January? I understand that January isn’t always the best month, but occasionally you have to take a chance.

“It’s a £60m roll of the dice, which is not unusual,” Martin continued. This is just another year where Rangers’ roll of the dice in this plan hasn’t paid off, and ultimately, spending £60 million represents a significant shift in the team’s path.

“Of course it is, and I think the way they’ve been working they’ve obviously, clearly not had that sort of money,” Lee McCulloch retorted. You can bet that they will strive to obtain it if there is a carrot to go achieve that kind of money.

Favorites to win the Champions League cash prize: Rangers?

Over the course of the last two transfer windows, the Gers have managed to spend a respectable amount of money, but it appears that they did not get excellent value for their money until Philippe Clement arrived.

With the departure of Sam Lammers and Jose Cifuentes last month, the summer spent on them has already shown to be a waste; yet, opinions on Cyriel Dessers and Danilo are still somewhat divided.

Arrivals with free transfers Although Jack Butland and Dujon Sterling have been more evident success stories, Rangers were previously farther away from winning the championship than ever before due to Michael Beale’s revamp.

Despite the fact that there is still much to be done, the tremendously stunning turnaround that Clement has started has persuaded many pundits that the Belgian is headed for his first SPFL championship.

When big-money January arrival Diomande hammered home the long-range opening at the weekend on his way to the league summit, Ibrox was far from worried that Dessers and Silva were not supported by a striker in the Lawrence Shankland mold.
