According to Peter Martin, Rangers’ financial situation will undergo a “massive change of direction” if they win the title since they stand to earn up to £60 million in addition to automatic Champions League status.
The host of PLZ Soccer answered on The Football Show on February 19 in response to Peter Rough’s query on why Celtic had not made investments in January to bolster their struggling team given the substantial prize at the end of the season.

How come you would fiddle with it in January? I understand that January isn’t always the best month, but occasionally you have to take a chance.
“It’s a £60m roll of the dice, which is not unusual,” Martin continued. This is just another year where Rangers’ roll of the dice in this plan hasn’t paid off, and ultimately, spending £60 million represents a significant shift in the team’s path.
“Of course it is, and I think the way they’ve been working they’ve obviously, clearly not had that sort of money,” Lee McCulloch retorted. You can bet that they will strive to obtain it if there is a carrot to go achieve that kind of money.
