Rangers: David Edgar shares Fabio Silva opinion following transfer update

With Fabio Silva’s loan move now officially confirmed, David Edgar is hoping he can make the same kind of impact at Rangers as Brighton loanee Abdallah Sima.

Excitement surrounds the arrival of Wolves’ club record player, Silva, at Ibrox after Fabrizio Romano confirmed earlier that the player was headed there on a six-month loan. However, some doubt Silva’s ability to make an impact in England.

The creator of the Hearts & Hand podcast has chosen the more upbeat approach, believing that the 21-year-old will be able to support players like Ross McCausland, Todd Cantwell, Sima, and Cyriel Dessers in the future and provide a formidable attacking threat.

On December 28, Edgar was questioned on Twitter about the deal and his response was, “Talented player, lost way a bit at Wolves.” hopes to have the same effect as Sima.

Profitable venture for all involved

Edgar is absolutely correct. Silva arrived from Portugal in 2020 as a huge prospect, but according to BBC Sport, he has never lived up to his reported £35.6 million price tag.

His previous season was played on loan at Anderlecht, where he finished with 11 goals and 4 assists in 32 games. He then played the second half of the season at PSV Eindhoven, where he finished with 5 goals and 2 assists in 19 games.

Despite making ten appearances for Wolves this season, Silva has only started three games in the Premier League and has not yet contributed a goal.

It will be very tough for the young forward to live up to the standards set by Sima, who is currently on loan from the top division of English football. But it will be crucial that he grows and regains some confidence for the benefit of all concerned.

Rangers

This season, Philippe Clement is having trouble deciding on a starting striker. Danilo is also injured, and Kemar Roofe’s season has been marred by injuries. He was recently sidelined once more.

Rangers still need a poacher even though Cyriel Dessers, one of the team’s most experienced forwards, has had a purple patch with just nine goals in 28 games.

Since moving to Ibrox, Sima has been an amazing revelation, but Senegal’s probable call-up to the squad for the African Cup of Nations next month could put an end to that.

Silva is a smart short-term solution for the Gers and will help Wolves in the long run, especially now that he has given up his big salary to the Scottish powerhouses.
