In the early hours of January 30, the South American journalist shared his tale for Mr. Offsider on Twitter, stating that the Ibrox midfielder now seemed to be heading to the Brazilian team.

The 24-year-old had already had a loan-to-buy offer accepted for his relocation to Rizespor, Turkey, but Cifuentes remained unconvinced.

However, Merlo claims that Cruzerio appears to be the Ecuadorian’s current destination after that disastrous relocation.

Rangers will be pleased that a different solution has been found so fast, but the Turkish side may be frustrated if Cifuentes is more amenable to this deal than the Rizespor one. He has had difficulty establishing himself in Glasgow after leaving LAFC in the summer, particularly since Michael Beale was replaced by Philippe Clement.

Mohamed Diomande’s midseason arrival as a costly addition means that Cifuentes’ opportunities will probably only grow more scarce from this point on.

Therefore, it is the least terrible alternative overall if he gets the chance to play regularly somewhere else and the Gers can cut their losses on a move that turned out to be a mistake.

Rangers would have made money on his half-season at Ibrox [£1.2m – Sky Sports, 4 August] if he had gone to Turkey for the potential permanent fee linked (£2illionm). Therefore, depending on the conditions of Cruzerio’s deal, they might be able to do more than just reduce their losses.

With two South Americans slated to arrive, it appears that one of the club’s incumbents will be leaving. The rest of the transfer window is anticipated to be active.

In other Rangers news, a team has been given “more money to spend” in an effort to bring in another star player from Ibrox.
